In February 2020, the Government of the Russian Federation adopted a decree "On invalidating the legal acts of the USSR and their separated provisions on the territory of the Russian Federation", a draft of which was submitted by the Russian Ministry of Justice.

According to the results of the second stage of work on the execution of the order of the Government of the Russian Federation on the abolition of acts of the USSR and the RSFSR, the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation provides for the recognition of 3621 government acts of the USSR as not valid in the Russian Federation.

The abolishing of acts containing outdated normative acts and having the status of "existing", although not applied in practice, will streamline and systematize the legislation of the Russian Federation, as well as ensure a uniform law enforcement practice.
